Hoʻokamaʻāina – “To become acquainted with”

Hoʻokamaʻāina – Our Family

Our journey as Resource Caregivers (formerly known as Foster Parent) began the summer of 2014. As a family unit we went from being a family of five to this fabulous group of seven. When this situation presented itself we had no clue where to start or what to do. But we were not left to figure it out. We had many different organizations and resources helping us.

    • Pikoʻu – Sense of Connection
    • Pono – Sense of Wellbeing
    • Kuleana – Sense of responsibility

Pilina is being that person or that family that the child or children will be entering into. This “Sense of Association” is when you and the child or children become one family unit.
