Join special guests and Child Welfare Services (CWS) Assistant Program Development Administrators Charlotte Kamauoha and Rachel Thorburn to learn about Family First Hawaiʻi implementation and efforts to decrease the number of “short stayers” (children placed in foster care for 30 days or less). Mai Hall, Childrenʻs Health Coordinator, Hawai’i Children’s Action Network (HCAN) also will present about a new Community-Based Child Abuse Prevention (CBCAP) funded program to provide Concrete Support for Maui County Families. Saturday April 22nd, 10 am – 2pm. 2nd Annual Ho’oikaika ‘Ohana Fest at Maui Botanical Gardens. Learn about community resources with more than 30 local agencies! Other activities include Native Hawaiian cultural activities and plant give-away, Maui Bookmobile and reading circles, video showings of “A Journey to Healing,” raffles, prizes, and lots of fun for the whole ʻohana. Entertainment includes Uncle Wayne, hula dancers, and Da Braddahs. Don’t miss Child Abuse Prevention Month proclamation by Mayor Bissen at 11 am.

Shayna Carroll, Program Director at The Maui Farm and Hoʻoikaika Community Engagement Committee co-chair, will be a keynote speaker.
